Lambert's Castle is a real castle on Garrett Mountain in Paterson, New Jersey.
It was named for my illustrious ancestor Lammert Zijm,
the legendary druggist of Den Burgh, Texel.

Ummm....

Ok, so it wasn't named for either OverGrootvader Lammert Zijm
or even for Uncle Godfather Lambert Zym.
But it sounded good, didn't it?

Now, back around 1947, my cousins from South Carolina
visited with their wives.
( yes, they were much older than I )

Of course a tour of the Castle and grounds was in order
and one can hardly visit a castle without a picture or two for souveniers.

And we took a family picture for posterity.
I still remember sitting on that stone "Lion Throne".

Daddy to my right, Mommy to my left,
was I something else or what?! *grin*

FAST  FORWARD...

We are now in 1972, June 4th to be exact.

My daughter Vikki has taken my stone throne.
Notice the trees haven't changed all that much.

I think this is just so cool.

Anecdote

When Vikki and I went to the Castle,
visitors were no longer allowed
on that particular balcony.

Yes, we climbed out a window
when no one was looking,
just to get this shot.

I'm hoping the Statute of Limitations has run out on this particular crime,
I've just confessed it to the world,
for criminy sake!

Does this look familiar?

Yes, Vikki is almost exactly where my cousins were
in 1947.  Just look at the picture up top.

FAST  FORWARD...

We've just zipped 11 years ahead.

It's May 11, 1985.

You have to admit it's really cosmic that this all just happened
at the Castle that could have been named for my Great Grandfather...

...but wasn't....
