Uncle Lambert

First Communion
First Communion

First Communion was very
important to the Zym family.

I have, I'm pretty sure,
the Prayer Book he is holding.

Yes, this family saves things.

I know you have always wondered
if young men actually wore knickers
"back in the day".

Check it out.

Yes indeedy.

And my uncle was nothing
if not fashionable.

Uncle on a Pole

Precious little can be said
about this picture.

My uncle is a little older
than the previous picture,
and is sitting on a pole.

I guess pole pictures
were pretty popular.

Either that or he felt
that if his sister Dora
could pose on a pole,
so could he!

Uncle Lambert found
the girl of his dreams.

Paulina Nyman.

Of course, I have no idea
when this wedding took place,
my Family Dates List has
been misplaced.

Update when I locate
the information.

ANECDOTE TIME

When Uncle Lambert was a "kid",
made his own crystal radio.
That might not seem to be much of a feat by today's standards,
when a basic radio can be bought on a pre-schooler's allowance,
but...he MADE his own radio.

He made his own bicycle.
Spare parts and spit (his description).
That's pretty descriptive.

Book learning was not his forte',
but give him some duct tape, shoelaces, and other leftover pieces
and he became a virtual MacGuyver.

And he could play a harmonica,
and he could wiggle his ears,
and he had a stamp collection,
and he could tell stories about anything,
and he and Aunt Pauline used to take me to the movies!

He was just a very special uncle.

Christening

Righto!  That's me in the middle.

Godmother Aunt Ann and
Godfather Uncle Lambert.

I love this picture, it looks
like Uncle Lambert is afraid
to touch "the baby",
while Aunt Ann smirks.

This was taken in 1941.

Uncle Lambert and Aunt Pauline

The way I remember them best.
